2. What are the benefits of studying at a boarding school ?
For every student, the first impression when arriving at a new school is always that it's ‘scary’ or difficult. However exponentailly the boarding school education makes a scholar really independent and self caring which leads him/ her to a high self esteem. The pupils coming from a wide variety of back found (s) provide an eye to respect differences, diversity & Multi-Cultural community. Moreover, such institutions radiates exposure to high end sports, games, hobbies and co-curriculars. The regimented schedule discipline and presence of someone always who can help with homework / assignments aid monitoring or simply to chat makes the same stand on highest pedestal.
3. Please comment on HOW good is the catering ? Do the pupils have an input in to the choice of menu offered ?
The general standard of school catering now a days is remarkably high with five cooked meals a day with a strong emphaisis on balanced diet with good selection of dishes. Pupils do like to receive their favourite food from home but it may to difficult to store large quantities of perishable products. The school cater for various dreary requirements taking in to consideration good nutrition
4. How do Boarders keep themselves in touch with their family ?
Every second Saturday when the evening Prep. C lasses gets over the scholars write letter to their family or friends. A part from this pupils have access to telephones as they make phone calls to their parents once in a week through the hostel phone service. The Parents cannot make a phone call to the Boarders directly (except in emergency) however second and fourth Sundays are the meeting days when the parents can come and see their wards.
5. What is School's academic record ?
Examination are not everything, but they are important. There is now much talk about value addition but measuring it or benchmarking it is difficult Average points scores per subject and per pupil have become important indicators. The school has a record of producing 100% results in AISSE/AISSCE [Com.] examination. Besides this in the year 2005-06 - 4, 2006-07 - 6, 2007-08 - 4, IITians are produced coupled with 5 many selections in medical Entrance Examination.
6. How will the school get the best out of our child, who has a particular intereset in Sports / Games /Music / Drama / Art ...... ?
This is a very general question aimed at finding out what the school's extra curricular activities are, and how the school encourages participation in them. To know this precisely, kindly go through the annual planner-cum-calendar attached with the compendium which clearly highlight's that on aforesaid aspects compulsory co-curricular activities Interhouse Competitions, Assembly activities, Sports & games events regular visits, symposium, workshop and seminars are frequently organized to attain the holistic growth of personality. THE STUDENT IS FREE TO CHOOSE ANY TWO HOBBY CUUBS OUT OT TEN MATCHING HIS/HER INTEREST & TEMPERAMENT.
7. What are the key rules for boarders over the Weekend, and how do these rules relate to what day pupils are allowed to do by their parents ?
Well this question is aimed at finding out as much as possible about what boarders can do at the weekends and the school's ability to offer a variety of cultural and social opportunities for all its pupils. Weekends are filled with trips, activities, fun and games, as well as ample informal time to relax. As said above, on second & fourth Sundays the parents come & see their wards and can take them out for a city visit with declaration that they will be dropping him/her back to the boarding by Sunday (1800 Hrs) sharp, whereas on First, Fourth and Fifth Sunday or fortnight hostel Nights are organized with the coordination of residential teachers, tutor warders and scholars. They are allowed to prepare, rehearse and present plethora of cultural activities on stage followed by open sky Winner of their choice with oddest DJ system.
Before the weekends the tutor-wardens & students prepare a schedule for all off days which rang from 1½ hrs. self study session under Supervision house keeping, visit to theatre, rekking, picnic matches, fun at water park, or sheer city visa or shopping.
8. Who is the first member our child should see if there is a problem ? Whom can we contact if we are worried about our child's progress, behaviour or performance or the quality of teaching that they are receiving ?
The right member of staff can deal with many problems immediately and thus knowing who that person is and above all developing your confidence in them is very important. G.G.I.A have very good pastoral care and counseling systems and knowing how these operate is very important. These questions will also allow you to find out how well the school communicates with parents and what opportunities there are for visits to the school to meet teachers & other parents.
If your ward confronts with a problem the very person first he could see is warden followed by Class Teacher Manager & Principal. If you are worried about your child's progress, behaviour or performance or the quality of teaching that they are receiving you can have an access to Principal after taking an appointment who will be providing you the right inputs or for the students problem diagnosis shall be administered with the help of guidance & counseling cell.
9. What is your policy on the use of internet and mobile phone ?
Internet abuse is a major international problem, and parents should feel confident that the school has realistic, sensible and positive policies in place to ensure pupils use the net for educational purposes, but not to spend time playing computer games or downloading dubious material. Mobile phone are not at all allowed in the campus and if found a penalty of Rs. 1000/- shall be levied coupled with seize.
10. What medical arrangements does the school have in place ?
Obviously, it is important to know what happen in care of either illness or an emergency or accident, who the school medical staff are and what the facilities include. For proper health care and periodical diagnosis, the school has a Medical Officer. It has a with all vacilities for first ..........................dispensary with resident trainded Nurse and Compounder hospitalization. I case of emergency and serious ailments, arrangements are made at the local Nursing Homes, which will, however be at the cost of parents. A progressive record of immunization, ailments and diagnosis is maintained in a Health card for each & every student.
